The 88 Keys Concert Series at Hawthorne Valley for support of music education offers a concert with Albert Lotto, piano and Jonah Thomas, cello on November 22 at 3:00.
Lotto is a seasoned master of the piano who the New York Times called “a spectacular virtuoso at the keyboard.” Mr. Lotto has spanned the globe with his distinctive combination of musical intelligence and dramatic flair. He and Thomas will be performing a selection of music from Bach, Chopin, Griegg, Liszt, and Mendelssohn. A native New Yorker, Lotto has had a career that has taken him to Japan, China, Korea, South America and Europe. Mr. Lotto received his doctorate at the Juilliard School and is presently the Director of Programs at the Tenry Cultural Institute of New York. Dr. Lotto produces programs with the Manhattan School of Music, New York University, Columbia University and other universities and institutions. Dr. Lotto resides in New York City with his family.
‘Cellist and composer Jonah Thomas graduated from The Juilliard School in 2008. Performance highlights include Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall , Barge Music Brooklyn, The Society for Ethical Culture and The New Juilliard Ensemble under the direction of Joel Sachs at Lincoln Center. As a member of the Juilliard Symphony Orchestra, Jonah has performed under the direction of such notable conductors as James DePriest, James Conlon and Otto-Werner Mueller. International venues include France, Germany, and Italy. Jonah’s ‘cello teachers have included Richard Aaron, Bonnie Hampton and Ronald Feldman. He has performed at many chamber festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, the Zepher International Chamber Festival and the Yellow Barn Music Festival.
Mr. Thomas’ original compositions have been performed at many venues, including The Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, Bard College and by the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, to name a few. Jonah has had a long association with the L’Ecole Normale Musique in Paris and has both performed as a chamber player and had his compositions presented there.
Jonah graduated form the Hawthorne Valley School in 2004.
