Excerpts from Handel's Messiah will be presented at St. Mary's Church, 429 E. Allen St., in Hudson on Thursday, 12/12, at 5 p.m. and Friday, 12/13, at 7:30. High School students should arrive one hour prior to the performance and Lower School students should arrive 45 minutes prior to the performance.
A wonderful PTO Potluck was hosted at the home of Linda McNutt and Peter Hoffman on September 27th. Many attended and heard from Grade 4 teacher Kevin Kilb about the lower school journey. Great food and conversation was had by all. The next PTO potluck will be on Friday, November 1. Stay tuned for information about location and topic!
At the first PTO meeting of the year the wonderful Connie Talbot very generously offered to lead future meetings, prepare agendas, and provide leadership for this terrific organization. In Connie’s words the PTO meetings are a forum for, “These living connections [which] truly hold the school together. These connections, eye to eye, heart to heart, are the threads that weave a most intricate tapestry that is school community.” Very true words and we hope that you will join Connie and faculty and staff for the next PTO meeting on October 19th at 9:30am in the Library.
First of all everyone is invited to PTO meetings. However, it is really important that one parent in the class take on the responsibility of attending the meetings so that they may share back with their class the content of the meeting. Connie suggests that parents in a class might consider taking turns attending the monthly meetings. The parents who are next up to attend a meeting will check-in with their fellow class parents to see if there are any items to share or concerns to be addressed at the meeting. They would also come to PTO ready to share something their own children have been up to in class. After the meeting, the representative parents who attended that month will communicate their notes from the meeting to their fellow class parents. Someone from each class can get the ball rolling by attending the October meeting and then putting up a sign-up sheet in their classroom so that others can sign up for this helpful opportunity to connect and share. (Many thanks to those who attended the September meeting and remember all are always welcome – please keep coming to the meetings)
Parent-Child parents are also warmly invited to PTO meetings. This would be in a social capacity rather than as a representative of the group. We would love to hear what is going on in parent-child class.
The dates of the Saturday morning PTO meetings are listed on the official school calendar (except the March date is TBA).
