Nestled in the foothills of the Taconic Mountains on 400 acres of fields, farmland, and rolling hills, Hawthorne Valley Association has more than 35 years of experience educating children and adults, promoting sustainable agriculture, and being an active part of the community and Columbia County.

Hawthorne Valley Association (HVA) is a non-profit organization promoting social and cultural renewal through the integration of agriculture, education, and the arts; it is committed to environmentally sound land management as the basis for sustainable economic success.

In addition to the three main initiatives – Hawthorne Valley School, Hawthorne Valley Farm and Store, and the Visiting Students Program and Summer Camp, the Association also includes the Alkion Center for Adult Education Foundation Studies in Anthroposophy and Teacher Training in Waldorf Education; the Farmscape Ecology Program, which conducts research on the interaction of agriculture and native species habitat in our region; and the Adonis Press, publisher and distributor of books on phenomena-centered science, poetry, and essays.

Visitors are always welcome in the Valley. Stay an hour, stay a day. If you would like a guided tour of a particular branch, please make arrangements through the contacts listed on this site.
