HVS Upcoming Winter Concerts in Hudson
Hudson, NY --- On Thursday, December 8 at 7:30 pm and Friday, December 9 at 5 pm, Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School will present excerpts from Handel’s Messiah at St. Mary’s Church, 429 E. Allen Street, Hudson, NY. Admission is free and the general public is encouraged to attend.
Excerpts from Messiah, directed by Lawrence Glatt, will be presented by the Hawthorne Valley High School Chorus joined by Soprano soloist Nancy Lundy, Baritone soloist Philip Cutlip, Harpsichordist Mariken Palmboom, the Columbia Greene Community Orchestra, and students in Grades 5 through 8.
As Enid Futterman reported in Our Town following last year’s performance, “It was standing room only on an icy cold night... The orchestra and chorus were not without a few adult, even pro ringers, notably the harpsichordist Mariken Palmboom, and the soprano Nancy Lundy, who gave the overflowing church full of kids, parents and friends the highest moment until the Hallelujah—Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion. But the real credit, and gratitude, must go to conductor and HVS music teacher, Lawrence Glatt, for making something miraculous happen in a humble place.”
