Magical Puppet Tree

The Magical Puppet Tree is an initiative of teachers, parents, artists, and musicians from the Hawthorne Valley School community. In addition to enriching the festival life of our school community with seasonal stories portrayed in a variety of puppetry styles, we have performed at other Waldorf and public schools in the Northeast, at local libraries, and at conferences. We also have received support in the form of a grant from the Columbia County Council of the Arts.

The Magical Puppet Tree is now incorporated as a not-for-profit organization. Our proceeds help to support the livelihood of local musicians and artists as well as to outfit our new marionette stage located in the Morning Star Kindergarten of Hawthorne Valley School. Our troupe has performed over 48 different multicultural folk and fairy tales in a variety of puppetry styles and techniques. A student troupe, The Acorn Players, has sprung forth from the community work.
