6th Grade
The sixth grader is poised between childhood and adolescence. He no longer feels intimately connected with his parents, with the passing of the golden period of fifth grade he now has an increased sense of self.
Sixth grade is a year that finds students expressing stronger opinions. They question their teachers and argue with passion. They also question each other and then, looking inward, question themselves. Reading of the struggles of the Roman Civilization and looking outward to the stars in Astronomy help the Sixth grade student to find outlets for their changing emotions while speech and recitation begin to prepare them for the more difficult work of the years to come.
