Parent-Child & Family Support Activities
The first three years of life are a wonder-filled time when the child’s greatest desire is to experience the world through his or her own efforts. These programs offer an opportunity for children and parents to share an educational experience in a supportive and peaceful environment and for parents to move forth in parenting with confidence. Hawthorne Valley Early Childhood Program faculty offers a range of support programs for young families. Please call the Admissions Office for availability, 518-672-7092 x111.
The Baby Garden
Thursday Afternoons, 12:45 to 2:45
Parents with babes in arms share tea and support for healthy caregiving in family life. New enrollment for 4-week sessions begin on the first Thursday of each month.
Peach-Buds Parent-Child Class
Thursday or Friday Mornings 9:45 to 11:30
With apple in hand, toddlers (18 months to 3 years) and parents are invited to join us for a morning of play, song, puppet stories and the shared endeavor of making (and eating!) delicious apple crisp. Young families meet new friends, explore ideas in child development and visit calves, horses and baby pigs on our farm.
Family Support Activities
In addition to our ongoing parent-child classes, we offer occasional additional programming for families with young children. Pre-registration is required. Please check this page for future program dates, or send us an email to be added to our notification list and we’ll drop you an email when new dates have been scheduled.
Saturday Series: Deepening Our Understanding of Child Development
Topics of parenting and teaching young children will be explored in this series. Discussions will touch on subjects such as nutrition and health, rhythm and rest, discipline, care of the senses, festival life, and learning and technology. Childcare will be provided for a minimal fee for those who pre-register.
Seasonal Nature Walks
Parents interested in experiencing our Early Childhood Programs are invited to bring their children on selected Friday morning walks with the Kindergarten.
