In the Region
Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School, and the Association as a whole, is deeply connected to the Berkshire-Taconic and Hudson Valley regions, and organizations and individuals herewith.
As a small sampling:
Residents and co-workers from Camphill Copake and Triform are regular attendees of school plays, coffee houses, and festivals. Camphill villagers are an important part of the community at Hawthorne Valley.
Walking the dog Theater, a young, talented theater company, assists with student productions and mentors high school students during Senior Projects and various practicums.
The 400-acre farm and campus has been held under easement by The Columbia Land Conservancy since the 1970s. In fact, Hawthorne Valley was one of the first large properties in the county to join CLC in its efforts to preserve farmland.
As a member of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and the Local Economic Alliance for the Future, Hawthorne Valley is closely connected to other organizations and businesses in the region.
This is just a glimpse into the diverse offerings in Columbia County, New York. By middle school and high school, outreach into an ever-widening community includes seasonal choral concerts at local schools, nursing homes, and churches as well as internships with area businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
