In selecting a recipient, the committee considers each applicant’s individual talent, initiative,
focus, desire to pursue a career in the arts, and financial need. The committee reserves the
right to split the award between student and alumni categories. Applications are judged within
the context of their category. If the initial review produces several qualified candidates, more
information—as well as an interview or audition—may be requested. If necessary, individual
committee members will exclude themselves from deliberations to avoid any potential conflict
of interest due to personal connections with applicants.
Applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision in late March. The Award will be presented
on May 29th, 2010.
